  • Kula TV is big, klunky but entertaining

In a week all-but dominated by the arrival of a certain apple-flavoured tablet computer, we thought it only right and proper to shift a little of our gadget focus to other upcoming products – perhaps less likely to take the world by storm by no less deserving of our time. So, meet Sungale’s new Kula TV.

Boasting access to several hundred local and international channels, and combined with a fully functioning PMP, the Kula TV device delivers its supply of televisual treats via a modest 4.3-inch LCD screen and Wi-Fi connectivity.

According to California-based Sungale, its little Wi-Fi enabled TV is able to live stream television programs from all over the world, which are selectable by country, language and even content categories such as News, Sports and Finance.

Content will be offered to prospective users through a number of different packages, which include Basic, Kid and Grand. While both the Basic and Kid options provide free access to between 20 and 30 channels, the fee-based Grand package will have more than 300 channels to choose from.

Specific information regarding usage fees has not yet been confirmed by Sungale. However, customers will be able to access the Grand package on a three-month trial in order to sample what’s on offer.

“The Kula is the next big thing that will revolutionize the way people watch TV,” enthused Sungale vice president of sales Gary Bennett.

“We want to provide out customers with the flexibility and convenience to customize the channels they want to watch in a device that blends multiple functions and features to create a valuable experience,” he added.

Other aspects of the Kula TV include a flip-up Wi-Fi antenna for enhanced reception, 2GBs of internal storage (expandable to 16GBs via the on-board SD/MMC memory card slot), a built-in rechargeable battery, and multimedia file support for the likes of AVI, MPEG4, DIVX, XVID, WMV, WMA, MP3M, WAV, AAC, JPG, BMP, TIFF and PNG.

Interested? If so, you’ll need to find $200 USD for the Kula TV when it starts appearing at retail from March.
